Well done to Sarah Judd and Kobi Shearer who performed in the Manawatu Youth Theatre production “Seussical” at the Globe Theatre. The production had amazing success, performing sold-out shows across two weeks during the holidays. Well done, Sarah and Kobi.  It’s great to see our students performing in local productions!

Arts Week

In the second to last week of Term Two, students enjoyed yet another successful Arts Week. Events included the Lip Sync Battle, House Dance Competition, Arts Week Soiree, Fantasy Face Painting and Drama Theatre Sports. Thank you to all those involved and to those who came to watch their performances.

The highlight of the week was the Soiree on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 June. It is always so rewarding to see students hard work and talent shine through on stage. If you did not get an opportunity to see the Arts Week Soiree, we highly recommend you come along to the next Soiree on Thursday 27 September.

Pasifika Fusion

Pasifika Fusion was held on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 July at the Regent Theatre. This event is always a highly anticipated event of the school calendar which showcases our students’ many and varied talents. Awatapu students participated in many of the categories including Wearable Arts, Speech, Talent and Cultural Performance.

The Cultural group performance was once again a highlight of the event. Students spent countless hours learning and perfecting dances from a range of Pasifika cultures, mixing both traditional and contemporary styles. Well done to all those involved.

A big thank you to the number of former students who returned to mentor and assist the group. Their willingness to take time off work/study to encourage the Pasifika students was much appreciated by all those involved. Thank you also to friends and family who came to support them and to Mr Hatch for his time and effort working with the group.
