Year 10 Camps - Payment Due

Reminder - Year 10 Camps fees are due Friday 28 September (end of Term Three)

Year 10 Camps run from Monday 26 November to Friday 30 November. As this can be a costly exercise, particularly so close to Christmas, the school offers an automatic payment option to help budget for this. Forms are available from the school office. A reminder, camps are a privilege, not a right, and that the school reserves the right to remove a student from their selected camp. If you have any questions regarding Year 10 Camps, please contact Mrs Newton by phoning 356 4817 or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Mathex 2018

Congratulations to those involved in Mathex 2018. Mathex is a challenging and fast-paced mathematical contest where teams compete against each other to solve maths problems as quickly as possible.

This year, Awatapu hosted the event and were responsible for planning and organising the tournament. Well done to our team of talented senior maths students who did a fantastic job marking answers. In all, over 30 teams from across Palmerston North, Whanganui, Dannevirke, Marton and Feilding competed in the event.

Our Year 9 and 10 teams did extremely well. Notable congratulations to the Year 9 team, Isaiah Birch, Sam Brown, Josh Stretch and Luca Jackson-Hamid, who achieved first place overall. All of our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and represented the College admirably. We look forward to repeating our success next year!

World Summers Games

Congratulations to one of our long serving Teacher Aides Mrs Humphreys who has been selected as Head Coach of NZ Special Olympics Bocce Team for the World Summer Games to be held in Abu Dhabi in March 2019. This is a fantastic achievement and we congratulate her on this honour.

Congratulations also to former students Braden Kendall and Ryan Smith who have been selected to compete in the event. Ryan has also been selected to participate in the torch run (one of only ten athletes chosen from around the world).

Year 11 Market Day

Well done to the Year 11 Business Studies students who put their theory into practice and held their Market Day recently. Students worked in teams to design and market delicious treats which they sold during lunchtime. Stalls included baking, candy floss, ice cream, fry bread and sherbet. The event was a huge success - well done!

Teacher Only Day

Please note, there is a Teacher Only Day scheduled for Wednesday 19 September. No classes will run this day. Normal timetable will resume on Thursday 20 September.

Senior Exam Week

Senior exam week is Wednesday 12 September to Tuesday 18 September. Senior exams are being held over a weekend in order to give those studying more time to do so. These examinations provide an opportunity for both your child and their teachers to get an indication of their academic progress. They are also important because if for an unforeseen circumstance, such as an illness or accident, where your child cannot sit an NCEA examination, then the grades they achieve in the school examinations will be used as evidence for derived grades.

The library will be open for study during the day. Morning exams will run from 9am - 12noon and the afternoon examinations will run from 1pm - 4pm. Please be on time for your exams and come prepared. If you have a clash, please alert your teachers for alternative times.
