Luke McDowall Selected for NZ Under 23 Team

luke basketballCongratulations to ex-student Luke McDowall was recently selected in the NZ Under 23 Men's Wheelchair Basketball Team.

McDowall was also chosen as the most promising player at the Junior Wheelchair Basketball Nationals in 2015. He was then invited by Wheelchair Sports Western Australia, for a two week training camp with their strong team, the Be Active Perth Wheelcats to continue his development. During this camp he also played for this team in their state league, with other Australian Wheelchair Basketball representatives.

Phoenix Rises

AR7Q7657   Congratulations to Phoenix Reid who competed recently at the National Artistic Roller Skating            Championships.

   Phoenix gained Gold medals in the Senior Mini Precision and Open Loops and silver medals in the    Cadet Figures, Freestyle and Dance sections.

   This a an outstanding result - well done Phoenix.

Schools Japanese Trivia Champs 2015

This was the regional round, where schools from Manawatu, Wanganui, and Hawkes Bay were represented.

Awatapu entered two teams into the competition with our team of Mosiah Igatia and Sarah Lewis winning the competition. Congratulations Mosiah and Sarah! Awatapu's other team won "best dressed', and three of our senior students were the officials who kept score and completed spreadsheets.

These students were outstanding and we are extremely proud of them all.

Language Perfect International Championships - Winning Team!

Here's a photo our winning team in the Language Perfect International Championships. Not only did three of them score an Elite Award, 16 of the team gained a Gold Award. They were also the winning team nationally AND internationally in the 1-50 entrant category! Well done team!

 

Noah Macdermid Wins National Title

Congratulations to Awatapu's own Noah Macdermid who won the Year 9 3000m event at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross-Country Championship in Dunedin over the weekend.
