Business Studies Market Day

On Wednesday, 24 August, the Year 11 Business Studies class put their theory into practice and held a College Market Day - selling their cleverly marketed goods and foods to fellow studies. The idea behind the Market Day was to give the business students a taste of the business world; learning trade principles and discovering the secret to creating a succesful business. The event was a huge success and the students involves should be very proud of their efforts.

Cabaret

The Year 12 and 13 Ball was held on Saturday, 20 August at the Hotel Coachman. The Ball Committee did a fantastic job transforming the venue into a "Winter Wonderland" and the entertainment was fantastic.

As with every other year, patrons and Hotel staff commented on how well behaved and polite our students were. We are proud to have such respectful students at the College.

One of the highlights is seeing the students transform on the night. Congratulations to our King and Queen - Jack Bruton and Ku Ku Henery - and to our Prince and Princess - Kaya Pani and Jasmine Pope.

Thank you to all those who made the night a success, particularly to Mrs Elliott and the Ball Committee.

BCITO Build Ability Challenge 2016

For the third successive year, students in the Furniture Construction and Technology (wood bias) class have been involved in the 'Build Ability Challenge', organised by BCITO (Building, Construction Industry Training Organisation). This year students are competing against 18 other schools nationwide.

Year 11 student, Grace Berg, developed the 'Crooked Playhouse' concept. The design was then presented to our client, Longburn School, and approved by BCITO. Students worked as a team to complete the framing drawings and build the playhouse. A weekly blog which details the progress can be viewed here

Gaining sponsorship was critical in the success of the build. Alongside the $500 sponsorship from BCITO, we gratefully acknowledge the sponsorship or materials and services from Mitre 10, ITM, Bunnings, Dulux, Isles Construction, and Programme Maintenance.

The last day of the competition was Friday, 19 August. As part of the competition, there is a 'People's Choice Award'. Click here to vote for our team. Voting is open until Friday, 9 September. We would appreciate your support by voting for us and sharing the link with family and friends.
