Manawatu Tattoo

Manawatu Tattoo is back for 2017 and have a special screening for schools and community groups on Saturday 29 April from 6pm at the Manfield Stadium.

Manawatu Tattoo is a two-hour, non-stop, action-packed programme themed “Americana” inside the Manfeild Stadium, with the stage being a Scottish castle entrance and the public seated in an open courtyard area. Combined with feature lighting and landscaping, the programme includes special guest artist Suzanne Prentice OBE along with more than 200 local, national and international performers.

Tickets are $35 and are available through the Feilding Information Centre or Palmerston North I-Site. Mention you are from Awatapu College and $15 from your ticket will come back to the College. There are no concessions for children, seniors or families, as those prices are available for the Sunday matinee show.

Doors will open at 6pm for people to gather, socialise and enjoy the static displays and pre-show entertainment. The show will run from 7-9pm, then the camaradierie continues with the opening of the Tattoo Casino. The casino will consist of Roulette, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Big Wheel and Mini Dice. $10 will purchase a million-dollar Casino Chip Start, followed by an auction of prizes.

This is a fantastic fundraiser for the College and we encourage all families and friends to attend. For more information about Manawatu Tattoo, please visit their Facebook page or e-mail them at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Year 10 Camp 2017

Yr10Camp

Every year in the second to last week of Term Four (27 November - 1 December 2017) our Year 10 students are given the opportunity to go on camp. These camps give students the chance to experience new things that cannot be taught in the ordinary classroom environment. Students and staff who participate in these camps come back with stories of overcoming challenges, working co-operatively and having heaps of fun. Past students look back on these camps as some of their best experiences at Awatapu College.

Camps are run in groups of up to 30 people and the students select the camp that appeals most. These camps range in price but can cost as much as $450. As this is a costly exercise, particularly so close to Christmas, we can set up automatic payments anytime to help budget for this. Forms are available at the office. Alternatively, you can contribute to your student’s camp fund at any time by making a small payment at the school office.

For camp information, please contact Mrs Newton on 356 4817 ext 8807 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
