Calling All High Achievers

As a College we are extremely proud of the exceptional talent our students have - sporting, academic or cultural - and we like to recognise their success during assemblies, newsletters and prizegiving ceremonies. We greatly appreciate the assistance we receive from parents / caregivers in notifying us of their child’s success outside of school. If there is an event or competition that your son or daughter has achieved highly in, then we want to know! Whether this is sporting, musical, drama, dance, academic or other - you can tell us by contacting either Mrs Bennett (356 4817 ext 8840 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Mrs Daysh (356 4817 ext 8839 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Awatapu College is pleased to be involved in the Maori Science Academy Puhoro programme. The programme began last year and is designed to guide Maori secondary schools students through NCEA, prepare them for transfer to tertiary study and ultimately to employment in a scientific career. Since being involved in the programme, students have surpassed both the non-Maori and Maori achivement rates in core Achievement Standards in NCEA Level 1 Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Click here to read a great article about the programme.

Japan Trip 2017

Earlier this year, a group of Awatapu College students were fortunate enough to go on a two week trip to Japan. Click here to read an article by Asia New Zealand Foundation about their trip.
