Glamour Soiree

The Performing Arts Department warmly invites friends and family to attend the final Soiree of the year:

When: 7pm Thursday 28 September

Where: Awatapu College Auditorium

Door charges:  $2.00 students (with parent)
$5.00 adults and unaccompanied students
$10.00 family (Mum, Dad and all the kids)

Please join us in the auditorium foyer before the show, have a tea or coffee, relax and listen to live background music. The curtain goes up at 7pm sharp with the show concluding at 9pm. 

We will be showcasing our wonderful Wearable Arts Fashions and our magnificent Pasifika group who did so well at competitions recently.  We are presenting something for everyone – lots of music, a little dance, some drama, and of course in true Awatapu style – a great supper! As this is our last Soiree Showcase for 2017 we hope to see you there for this fabulous red carpet affair.

Sport and Cultural Photos

Sport and Cultural group photos will be taken on Wednesday 27 September. All team members must wear their correct sports uniforms, including sports socks and footwear. As most codes will have finished their seasons by this date, this is also the time to return your ENTIRE sports uniform.

Sasakawa Scholarship

Congratulations to Frances Harnett-Darlington who has been awarded a Sasakawa Undergraduate Scholarship. Frances of one of only 5 students from New Zealand to be awarded this prestigious scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage top students to continue with their Japanese study at a tertiary level. Applicants were selected based on their academic ability, future leadership potential, and their ability to demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm for work and self confidence. Congratulations, Frances! We wish you all the best for your future endeavours.

Trustpower Award

Congratulations to Teuila Nosa who was awarded a 2017 Trustpower Youth Community Spirit Award. This award is presented to Year 13 students to recognise and reward their service to their school and the wider community. Teuila is a very deserving recipient and delivered an inspiring acceptance speech. As an award winner, Teuila received $500 prize money and another $250 to give to a community group of her choice. Teuila chose St Johns as a personal tribute to honour the generous support Teuila and her family have received from St Johns in the past. Of the six secondary school regional finalists, Teuila was also named the Trustpower Supreme Winner. Congratulations, Teuila!

Congratulations to Ashleigh Richards who recently competed in the North Island Secondary School Ski Champs. Ashleigh was placed 26th out of a field of 176 skiers, and was only 6 seconds behind the 1st place getter. This is a remarkable achievement. Well done, Ashleigh.
