Year 12 'Loves Me Not'

The 'Loves Me Not' program is returning to Awatapu College on Tuesday 21 August. In this full-day workshop, Year 12 students will work with teachers, police and representatives from youth organisations to explore healthy relationships and the sometimes difficult subject of relationship abuse and consent. The workshop is run at school and students are expected to wear normal mufti for the day. Nominations are currently being sought for the Board of Trustees Student Representative 2018/2019. Nomination forms may be obtained from the School Office and should be returned to the Returning Officer, Elizabeth Shand (Business Manager) by 12 noon on Monday 20 August 2018.

Smallbore Shooting News

Congratulations to Kerrin Stuart who has been selected in the North Island Junior Smallbore Rifle Team to compete at the North vs South Interschool Shoot in Nelson over the weekend 18-19 August.

Senior Ball - Enchanted Forest

We had our Senior Ball on Saturday 11 August at the Hotel Coachman. As with every other year, patrons and Hotel staff commented on how well behaved and polite our students were. We are proud to have such respectful and mature students at the College. Thank you to all those who made the night a success, particularly to Mrs Elliot, Mr Dobson and the Ball Committee.

Congratulations to Briar Beals who represented Awatapu College at the New Zealand Judo Secondary School Championships in Tauranga during the school holidays.  Briar was awarded an uncontested gold medal for her weight category and placed 3rd in the next highest weight category. Well done, Briar!
