Towards the end of Term Two, Sophia Babbage, Bach Pham and Minh Hoang Pham took part in Massey University's M3S Mathematics and Statistics competition. The competition provides students with an opportunity to engage in mathematics and statistics on problems that are both fun and challenging.
Earlier this term, 15 students from Awatapu College competed at Mathex. Mathex is a regional maths competition which tests students' critical thinking, logic and spatial reasoning skills. Our Year 9 teams placed 4th and 17th out of 23, and our Year 10 teams placed 2nd equal and 18th out of 20. Well done!
At the end of last term, 16 selected Japanese students from Year 9 to Year 13 spent a whole day of immersion in Japanese culture and language at Massey University. This included Japanese contests, dress-ups, calligraphy, tea ceremony, kendama fun activities, as well as an obento (Japanese lunch box).

Congratulations to Lily Patete who competed at the National Artistic Roller Skating Championships in New Plymouth recently. Lily competed in 4 events and gained 3 medals. She was also selected to compete in both the Cadet Freeskating and Cadet Dance at the Oceania Championships in Melbourne in October.

• Preliminary Loops - 3rd place
• Cadet Figures - 4th place
Junior and Senior Interviews/Subject Confirmation for Term 3 are scheduled for Wednesday 7 August (Years 9 and 10) and Thursday 22 August (Years 11, 12 and 13). Please note that the school will close at 3pm on the day of the interview evenings. We encourage all parents/caregivers to attend so that they can actively monitor their child's academic progress.
