Atamira Dance Company Visit
Today the Dance Department hosted Bianca Hyslop from Atamira Dance Company and spatial and set designer Rowan Pierce to share their knowledge and experience in working in a Dance and performance career.
Students then learnt contemporary dance and ended with an excerpt from Bianca and Rowans new collaborative show Pohutu. The past, present and future abruptly intersect in multi-disciplinary dance work Pōhutu, a rich synthesis of image, object, movement, and sound.
At the age of 88 Bianca's grandmother now has Alzheimers. Pōhutu draws parallels between a kuia's shapeshifting mind and the restlessness of her whenua 'Te Whakarewarewatanga-o-te-ope- taua-a-Wahiao, Rotorua'.Follow this link to check it out.
