i.  The school treats international students as it does domestic students and standard school regulations apply.

ii.  The Dean of international students will contact the homestay parents or designated caregiver/liasion person in the event of an unexplained absence.

iii.  Discipline procedures will be applied in the event of truancy or continuing truancy and the student's parents, New Zealand "Designated Caregivers", Liasion Person and/or agents where applicable will be notified.  These can involve:

a) Visits to home by the school's attendance officer in the case of students aged under 16 years of age.

b) Suspension procedures where truancy is deemed to be gross misconduct which is a harmful example to other students.

iv.  "Designated Caregivers"/New Zealand Liasion Person, parents and/or agents of International students who are failing to meet course requirements will be notified in writing, as per school policy for all students.

v.  Non-Attendance at School

If an enrolled International student is not attending school, the following procedures will be followed:

a) If there is no evidence that the student has left New Zealand, procedures as set out in the Ministry of Education Circular 99/03 "Rules for Student Enrolment Records" will be followed.  This involves a referral to NETS (Non-Enrolment Truancy Service).

b) If an international student ceases to attend or complete their course of study before the course is completed, the College will advise NZIS using their electronic notification form.
