Skiing Superstar

Congratulations to Ashleigh Richards who has been selected in the Turoa Academy Elite (skiing). Ashleigh will be attending training every weekend for 10 weeks and then she will compete in the Nationals and North Island Secondary School Competition later this year. Congratulations, Ashleigh. We wish you all the best for the competitions.

Bright Young Thing - Cassy Feasey

Congratulations to Year 13 student, Cassy Feasey, who won top place in New Zealand and second in the world in the Japanese language section of the Language Perfect World Championships earlier this year. Cassy's score also gained her 13th place overall in the world in any subject. The competition saw over 18,500 entrants from around the world test their Japanese skills in listening, reading, writing and diction. Click here to read the Stuff article. Young Enterprise Scheme Success

Congratulations to the Awatapu College YES team, Matthew Anderson, Ophelia Fishsimmons, Zoe Taylor and Karl Werner, who won Judges Choice in the Regional Finals of the Young Enterprise Scheme business competition. The competition saw teams of high school pupils from across Manawatu and Horowhenua pitch their ideas for the next big thing to local business leaders. Taewondo Champ

Congratulations to Year 9 student, Jake Dallow, who represented Manawatu as part of the Central Region Taekwondo team in Auckland recently. Jake entered 3 events which saw him win a gold medal in sparring and bronze medals in patterns and pre-arranged. Well done!

Term Three will begin on Monday 24 July.

Year 10 Camps - Deposit Due

A reminder, the Year 10 Camps deposits are due Monday 24 July. Camp deposits are $100 and can be paid at the School Office by cash, eftpos or cheque.

Year 10 camps for 2017 will run from Monday 27 November to Friday 1 December 2017. Camps are run in groups of up to 30 people and the students select the camp that appeals most. These camps range in price but can cost as much as $450.  As this is a costly exercise, particularly so close to Christmas, we can set up automatic payments anytime to help budget for this.
