NZ Touch Referee

Congratulations to Kyann Williams who has been selected to travel as a New Zealand Touch Referee with the U16 NZ Touch Teams on their Australian tour in September.  Only three referees were selected from New Zealand to tour; two of which were selected from this region. Kyann also received the Most Improved Referee at the Manawatu Touch Referees Prizegiving recently. Well done, Kyann!

Winter Sports Reminder

It’s been great to see our winter sports teams in action over the last few weeks. If you haven’t already, check out the Awatapu College Sports Facebook page for our latest news and photos.

With winter sports now in full swing, players and spectators are reminded of the College’s expectations. We expect our players and teams to be committed, turn up to their games on time and with the correct equipment, and to pay their fees in a timely manner. We expect all players and spectators to have a “fair play attitude” and to respect their team, opponents and referees. All the best to our teams this year. Go hard and play fair!!

A reminder, sports fees are now OVERDUE! If your son/daughter is playing a sport this winter and you haven’t made payment, please do so promptly.

Sailing Success

Congratulations to Jack Scrivener and Lucy Scrivener on their sailing successes for the 2018-2019 season. Jack was awarded Most Improved Junior Sailor, 1st in the Manawatu Open Bic River Race and 1st in the Open Bic Championship. Lucy placed 11th out of 18th in the Overall Laser Cup. Lucy had only started sailing in a laser boat halfway through the season which makes this achievement even more impressive. Lucy also came 2nd in the Open Bic River Race.

Congratulations to the Year 9 and 10 teams who competed at the NZ Schools Japanese Trivia Contest earlier this term. The Awa A team placed 2nd and were voted ‘best dressed’. The Awa B and Awa Y9 placed 4th and 5th, respectively. Well done!
