About Awatapu College
Awatapu College is a state, co-educational secondary school catering for students from Years 9-13. Our school is a vibrant and diverse community with a strong focus on meeting the individual needs of our student body. The College is currently experiencing roll growth at some levels in response to the positive culture that exists in the school and its reputation for the strong support given to students them to achieve their potential.
We believe that all students are capable of learning, and that it is our responsibility to ensure that each of them uses their ability to reach their fullest potential. To this end, considerable emphasis is placed on ensuring that our classrooms are stimulating, well disciplined environments, and that students are well supported. School Fees / Donations
There are various costs depending on what courses and activities your child chooses. Please contact the school office for more detailed information.
We ask all parents to financially support the College by way of an annual donation. Donations are used to improve and maintain the educational, cultural and sporting amenities of the College. Please click here to view the 2019 donations.
Awatapu College is a uniform school for Years 9-11. Please click here to view the Awatapu College uniform regulations and price guideline. Uniform items are available for purchase from The Warehouse in Palmerston North.
Year 12 and 13 students wear mufti all year round. Student Council organises mufti days for other year levels. Students are expected to dress in a neat and tidy manner, to take pride in their appearance and to present a positive image of Awatapu College.
In all cases, the Principal's ruling on the suitability of any item of clothing or a student's presentation will be final.
Getting to School
Rural Bus Service
A rural bus service is available to out of town students via UZABUS. Please contact UZABUS on 0800 UZABUS (0800 892 287) for the most up to date information regarding bus routes and pickup/drop off points. Students must carry their Awatapu College ID card when travelling on the bus service. ID cards are available from the school office for $7.50.
City Bus Service
Awatapu College is situated on the Awapuni/Rugby bus route. Please visit the Horizons Regional Council website for more information regarding city bus routes, timetables and fares.
Senior students who wish to drive their personal vehicle to school must obtain a vehicle pass from the school office and abide by the vehicle pass regulations.
The College offers all students a comprehensive range of subjects from Year 9 to Year 13 leading to the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Levels 1-3, as well as the Scholarship level.
