Amua Ai Engineering Young Minds Champs

Congratulations to the Year 10 puhoro students who won the Āmua Ao - Engineering Young Maori Minds competition for the second year running! They faced a variety of engineering challenges such as building a hydraulic arm, making a marble run to slow the descent of a marble, building a scale human, and building and flying a drone. All activities were linked to Māori legends. Pai te mahi.

Teacher Only Day

Please note the school will be closed on Wednesday 18 September 2019 due to a Teachers Only Day. The school will be closed to students on this day and parents/caregivers will need to make alternative arrangements for their child. Normal timetable will resume on Thursday 19 September.

Archery Champ Archery

Congratulations to Kane Edgeworth who competed at the 2019 National Archery Indoor Championship over the weekend. Kane achieved great results shooting in the senior and master archers group and received a Gold medal for his age class!

Year 9 2020 Enrolments

Biology Trip to WellingtonBio

As part of their studies, Year 13 Biology students travelled to Wellington and visited Te Papa and the Wellington Zoo. Despite the wet weather, students enjoyed visiting the zoo classroom, and a bonus to catch up with ex Awatapu College student Victoria Buckley (2014), who has graduated with a BSc in Zoology and Ecology, and is now working as a visitor ranger at Wellington Zoo.

IHC Art Awards - People's Choice WinnerMalachi

Congratulations to Malachi Oldridge who won the 2019 IHC Art Awards People’s Choice Award for his artwork, My Nani as a Māori Girl. Malachi’s artwork was selected as the favourite from the 30 finalists. Thank you to everybody who voted! Malachi was presented with the People’s Choice Award and his prize of $1,000 at the IHC Art Awards gala evening at Shed 6 in Wellington. During this awards presentation, the 30 finalist artworks were also auctioned, with all proceeds going directly to the artists. Malachi was also presented with 3rd place overall.
