Maths Success

Congratulations to Brooke Winiata and Kayleigh Greig who were awarded certificates in recognition of their success in the Education Perfect Maths Championship recently. Brooke received an Emerald Certificate (top 2%) and Kayleigh received a Silver Certificate.

Dance NZ Made 2019DanceNZ

On Monday 2 September, our dance groups performed at the Regional Dance NZ Made competition. Our Year 9/10 team performed a contemporary piece and our Open Team performed an energetic hip hop routine. Congratulations to our Year 9/10 Team who placed 2nd in their category and will be representing Awatapu College at the Nationals later this term.

Jimmy Carter Quiz

Congratulations to the Jimmy Carter Quiz team who came 4th equal in the regional secondary schools competition. The team were Jack Burridge, Laura Ellery, Ellie Kilty, James Woodcock and Rowan Woods. Well done! Thanks also to Bruce McKenzie Booksellers who gifted the College a book for our library.

Winter Tournament 2019Hockey

The Girls’ 1st IV Hockey team competed in the Rosemary O’Brien Tournament as part of the Secondary Schools’ Winter Tournament Week. Tournament week is an annual event for Secondary Schools across the country. Thank you to Mr Reiche for managing the team and to all the supporters who came down to watch our games. The girls played six games throughout the week and came 5th overall. Well done, girls!

Success in Science

The Science Department wish to congratulate the following students who experienced success in the very challenging Otago Senior Science Competition recently. Tio Weavers, Danny Lampkin, Laura Ellery, Bryn Thompson and Olivia McEwan all received Merit Awards, and Thomas Budd received a Distinction Award. Congratulations!

In the Education Perfect World Series Caitlin O'Brien and Katherine Peet received Credit Awards (top 20%), Gryffin Powell received a Bronze Award (top 10%), Niamh Frizzell received a Silver Award (top 5%) and Dayna Swan received a Gold Award (top 2%).
